Instagram is tweaking their feature offerings...again. BUT: this time the focus is on the Remix feature, and this is something to get excited about!

What is Instagram Remix?

The Remix feature is to Instagram what the Duet feature is to TikTok. When a creator posts a video with Remixing enabled, others can create their own video as a way of interacting with the original creator’s video. The result is a split-screen, dual audio video where one creator might elaborate on or combine forces with another creator. The Remix feature can be used on an already existing reel by clicking the three dots on a video and clicking the option to Remix.

 
 

Instagram’s “Remix” feature was previously available for use with Reels only. Now, the feature has been extended for use with all video content that is shared publicly, and not from a private account.

We’re seeing a trend of Instagram implementing video features that mirror Tik Tok, showing us that video content is favorable according to the platform algorithm.
