Everything to Know About Instagram's Innovative Collaborator Feature

The social media landscape is truly ever-changing. As digital marketers, our best practices include learning about and implementing all features a platform has to offer. We’re here to break down one of Instagram’s latest features: the Collaborator Feature!

What is a collaborator?

When you add an account as a collaborator to an Instagram post, both you and your collaborator’s Instagram handle, or usernames, will appear at the top of the post. Additionally, the post that you both collaborated on will appear on both of your profiles.

Why add a collaborator to a post?

A post that has two collaborators on it means that the post will receive, in theory, double the engagement. These doubled engagement metrics, along with double the viewers, will allow you to reach a fresh new audience. This could increase your number of followers and increase your business’ sales!

How to add a collaborator

To add a collaborator, create a typical post. Once you’re ready to publish, click on “Tag people.” Then, click “Invite collaborator.”

Then, search for the respective account or user you’re collaborating with, and click “Done,” and click “Share” to publish your post.

How to accept a collaborator invitation

Once an account or user is requested to be a collaborator, a notification will appear in their “Activity page.” Click on the “Review” button, and two options will be presented: accept or decline. To accept the collaborator invite, click “Accept.”

Collaboration accepted!
